First Annual Celebration of Women a Success for Hope Hospice

April 29, 2008

(Fort Myers, Fla.) – The first annual Celebration of Women, held on April 18 at the Harborside Event Center, was a highly successful fundraiser for Hope Hospice and Community Services. More than 400 women attended, and proceeds netted more than $22,000.

Hope President and CEO Samira K. Beckwith described the event as “a fundraiser and a friend raiser, celebrating the special role of women as caregivers in our community.”

Celebration Committee Chair Sandy Stilwell added, “We are absolutely thrilled to have an exciting new event in Fort Myers that will benefit our community in a special way. It was great fun for a worthy cause, and an opportunity to network with other caring women. We can’t wait until next year’s Celebration.” Details of next year’s event will be announced in the near future.

The Celebration, organized by a newly formed committee of caring, community-minded women, featured a champagne reception, silent auction and Saks Fifth Avenue fashion show, with commentary by NBC-2 news anchor Kellie Burns.

Proceeds go to Hope Hospice and Community Services and will help to cover the costs of special services for patients and families in need.
